GRUNDY CENTER-Barbara J. Hay, 60, of Grundy Center, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Services were held Thursday, May 16 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Pastor Lee Webb and Pastor Harry Wach officiated.
Barbara was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Burlington, to Cecil and Marie Babit Pollock. She graduated from the Denver High School and lived in that area until 1998. In the spring of 1998, she came to live with a special friend, Martin Johnson, in rural Grundy Center. Barbara worked a number of years as a teacher's aid in the Cedar Falls School system and a few years in the Grundy Center School District. She was a member of the Northeast Iowa Motorcycle Club and the Dewar Sno Chaser's Club. She enjoyed sewing and knitting.
She is survived by two sons, Chet and wife, Teresa, of Parkersburg, and Lon and wife, Julie, of Ankeny; a daughter, Sherry Hay-Hodgson and husband, Jason, of Elk Mound, Wis.; a special friend, Martin Johnson of Grundy Center; four grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
