CLEMONS-Marjorie Lillian Norman, 87, of Clemons, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at her home. Services will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Bangor-Liberty Friends Church at Clemons, with burial in the Eldora City Cemetery. Rev. Keith Haisch officiated.
Marjorie was born May 17, 1914, in Jackson Township, Hardin County, to Rollin and Florence Cross Northrup. She grew up in the Owasa area and graduated in 1931 from Eldora High School where she had taken Normal School Training. She taught rural school from 1932-36 near Eldora. On June 14, 1936, she married Mark Norman in Eldora and they made their home on a farm near Clemons. She worked as a teacher and a correspondent for the Times-Republican paper in Marshalltown. Marjorie was a member of the Bangor-Liberty Friends Church, Liberty Missionary Society, D.A.R., Farm Bureau, Marshall County Historical and Genealogical Societies, Central Iowa and Hardin County 4-H Camera Club, and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed genealogy, photography and travel.
She is survived by three daughters, Dr. Judy Svengalis, Des Moines, Joy Wagner and husband, Robert, of St. Joseph, Mo., and Rosalee Patten and husband, William, of Clemons; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1993; an infant daughter; and a sister.
Biersborn Funeral Home of Union, was in charge of arrangements.
