IOWA FALLS-Jean R. Snyder, 71, of Iowa Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Ceres, Calif. a public Eastern Star memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. at Linn's Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls, with Ascension Lodge No. 158, Eldora, officiating. Inurnment will be at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Visitation will follow services at Linn's Funeral Home.

Jean R. Jones was born Oct. 23, 1930, at Missouri Valley to Howard and Jeannette Gardner Jones. Her mother died during childbirth and she was raised by Howard and his second wife, Myrtle Mae Jones. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1947, attended one year at Blair College in Blair, Neb., and one year at Omaha University in Omaha, Neb. On Feb. 3, 1950, she married Duane Snyder at Jackson, Minn. She spent 17 years as a military wife until her husband retired from the Air Force. The next 33 years they farmed on the family farm near Iowa Falls. During this time she also worked as a bookkeeper (15 years) for Skinner-Daniel Autoland in Iowa Falls. She was a member of Ascension Chapter No.158 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Eldora.

Jean is survived by her husband, Duane, of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Amy Snyder of Ceres, Calif.; three sons, John of Modesto, Calif., Keith, of Belle Vista, Ark., and David of Stockton, Calif; four grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Amy Snyder of Iowa Falls; and two brothers, Max Long of Laurel, Mich., and Ed Long of Ankeny.
