Monday, September 11, 2000Funeral services for Gene C. Cayler, 67, Dodgeville, Wis., were held August 28, 2000 at McGinley-Gorgen Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Rev. Brent Campbell officiated. Graveside military services were conducted by Dodgeville American Legion Post #97 and VFW Post #7345 at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville. Mr. Cayler died August 25, 2000 at his home.
Gene C. Cayler was born July 22, 1933 at his home in Dolliver, Iowa. He was the son of E.R. Cayler and Alice Dixon and was raised and educated in Williams. He graduated from Williams High School in 1971 [this is a typo in the obituary]. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957 as a radar controller in the Tactical Air Command from 1957 to May 1, 1993. He was employed by Walnut Grove Livestock Feeds of Atlantic, retiring as division manager in 1993 after 33 years in Dodgeville. He was a member of Gomer Lewis American Legion Post #97, Dodgeville.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia, one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Brett Jenkinson, Parsburg, Germany; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Cayler of Onalaska, Wis.; three grandchildren, Michelle Crubaugh, Christopher and Valory Cayler, and one sister, Carolyn Agar, McAllen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Cayler, two sisters, Cheryl Pape and Beverly Cayler in infancy.
