William N. Merrill, 64, of 1709 River St., died early this morning at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for four weeks.

He had been in ill health the past six months.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

William Nicholia Merrill, son of William N. and Sophia Mundt Merrill, was born Feb. 28, 1911 in Webster City. He was reared and educated in the Webster City area.

Oct. 15, 1932 he was united in marriage to Anna Lacy, and Mr. Merrill worked at Franklin Mfg. Co. for 22 years, later working for the Webster City Community Schools for eight years. He also worked for the Webster City water plant until retiring two years ago.

He is survived by his wife Anna; two sons and one daughter, William C. Merrill of Alexandria, Va., Duane Merrill of Federal Way, Wash. and Mrs. Ronald (Beverly) Ostrander of Manson, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and seven sisters, Irene Mason, Blandford, Mass., Gertrude Merrill, Webster City, Charline Weindorf, Burbank, Calif., Gladis Merrill of Burbank, Calif., Grace Foley of North Hollywood, Calif., Barbara Otto of Glendale, Calif., and Freda Johnson of Hawaiian Gardens, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Merrill was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.
