Ross H. Burnett, 81, of rural Woolstock, died Friday afternoon at the Clarion Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for five days. He had been in ill health the past two and one-half years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Robert Scott officiating and with burial in the French cemetery near Woolstock.

Ross Hamilton Burnett, son of William F. and Mary Rodman Burnett, was born Jan. 25, 1895, at Roberts, Ill. When he was seven years old, he moved with his parents to Stutgard, Ark., where he was reared and educated.

He was married in 1911 to Verna Burnett at Memphis, Tenn., and the couple resided at Stutgard. To this union, three sons and two daughters were born: Mrs. John (Leola) Vogt, Webster Groves, Mo., Ray Burnett, who preceded his father in death in 1964, Don Burnett and Ross W. Burnett, both of Webster City, and Mrs. George (Juanita) Lewis, Webster City.

Mrs. Burnett died in 1928.

He was married Nov. 1, 1931 to Eva B. Claude and the couple made their home in Webster City. To this union, two daughters and one son were born: Kenneth Burnett, who died in 1970; Mrs. Gerald (Darlene) Caquelin of Woolstock and Donna Logsdon of Grant's Pass, Ore.

Mr. Burnett served as chief engineer for the Webster City school system for 35 years after which the couple moved to a farm near Woolstock. For a period of time he was employed at the Heritage home in Clarion, but had been retired the past eight years.

He is survived by his wife, the two sons and four daughters; 27 grandchildren, one of which, Cpl. Anthony C. Logsdon, was reared in the Burnett family home. Cpl. and Mrs. Logsdon and family currently reside in West Berlin, Germany. Also surviving are 45 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Fort Dodge.
