Friday, August 25, 2000Shirley Pigsley, 64, Kamrar, died of cancer Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Monday at the Church of Christ in Webster City with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Church of Kamrar Cemetery. Friends may call at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell Sunday afternoon and at the church after 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Webster City.
Shirley Mae Ellison was born Feb. 21, 1936 at Woodbine, the daughter of Elmer Lyle and Nellie Mae Flaherty Ellison. She grew up in the Woodbine area, graduating from Woodbine Normal School in 1954. On Feb. 22, 1959 she married Delburt L. Pigsley in Woodbine. They have lived in Kamrar for 30 years. She was a 4-H leader in Woodbine and Kamrar and was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City, and active in church activities. She was also an election volunteer and helped with many community events.
Survivors are her husband, Delburt of Kamrar, two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Nancy Pigsley and children Nathan and Katelyn of Avoca, Burton and Amy Pigsley and sons Joshua and Austin, Kamrar, daughter Denise Pigsley, Kamrar; sisters, DeLoris Hull, LaVonna Clark and Vonda Hammack, all of Woodbine, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a child in infancy, a brother, Dale Ellison, and a brother-in-law, Robert Hull Sr.
