Laura Mae Leeper, daughter of Mariam Reyonlds and Isaac Newton Carmichael, was born in Brayton, Iowa, on April 30, 1900. She passed away at her daughter’s home at 610 N 12th Street, Guthrie Center, Iowa, on June 30, 1990.
Laura’s early life was spent in the parental home attending school and growing into womanhood. On December 25, 1917 she was united in marriage to Lee Leeper in Adair, Iowa. To this union thirteen children were born.
Following their marriage, Lee and Laura made their home on a farm south of Guthrie Center, where they remained until his passing in 1967. Following that Laura maintained her own home, wintering in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has lived the past 17 years with her daughter Lettie in Guthrie Center.
