According to the 1860 census, a D.W. Poindexter,age 30, Sarah age 25, and Catherine age 1, were living with the Samuel Ladlow family in Rockford Twp. D.W. was born 1830 in Maine.

In the 1970 census,a D.W. Poindexter is in Mitchell Twp., Mitchell County, IA. If this is the same person as found in the 1860 census, it appears that he does not have the same wife as in 1860. The family listed is Louisa age 40, Katie age 11, David age 9, Reuben age 7.
