I would like information on my Fayette County ancestors, as well as a chance to meet "cousins."

My grandparents, Herman Albert WEIHER (b. 26 Oct 1895) and Ada Mabel GAGER (b. 19 Oct. 1894) were both born in Fayette County, and were married 22 Nov 1916 in West Union. Two of their 3 children were born in Iowa before they moved to CA for Ada's health, and my dad was born there.

Herman's parents were Carl WEIHER (b. 8 Apr 1862 in Germany) and Augusta GRIEBENOW (b. 27 May 1869 in Germany). They were married in 1889 and immigrated to the US in 1895.

Augusta's parents, August GRIEBENOW and Wilhelmina GUSTMAN had immigrated in 1894, and settled in Hawkeye, where their son Herman (Augusta's brother) lived.

Carl's parents were Daniel Friedrich WEIHER and Frederika Wilhelmina PAUTZ. They immigrated to the US in 1895. Daniel was a naturalized US citizen by 1910.

Now to Ada GAGER's family. Her parents were Clarence H. GAGER (b. 1867 in Illinois) and Eliza M. MILLER (b. 24 Mar 1868 in Fayette County). They were married 30 Oct 1890 in Fayette County).

Clarence's father was John Thurston GAGER, a Civil War veteran from Illinois who moved to Iowa in 1872 and settled in Alpha in 1892). Clarence's mother was Sarah Filena AUSTIN. She was buried in 1886 in Fayette County.

Both John T. GAGER and August GRIEBENOW had long lives. Gager lived to be 99, and Griebenow reached 100. News articles were written about both men, and I will post them when I can.

I know that my Dad's aunt, Ella WEIHER Kohlmeyer (b. 8 Jan 1900 in Hawkeye) lived in the West Union area still in 1983, when I was a student at Luther College. I'm sure she has passed away by now, but would appreciate any info.
