Try writing the Fayette County Genealogy Society. They are listed on the Fayette Genweb site. They can do an inexpensive lookup. 1868 is kind of early for an extensive obit as newspapers were pretty brief as they might only have four pages. You might be lucky to get a death notice. You may also order a film probably West Union Argo-gazette at your local library via ILL if they have a film reader.
