On the 1900-1915 census the family was living in Cherokee County. They were married for 19 years on the 1880 census.

1885 Iowa State Census for Bremer County, has George S, 27, b. Fayette Co., IA and Sarah, 25, b. NY with children, Ethel, 2 b. Fayette Co., and Frederick 1, b. Bremer Co., living next door to Nicholas Burch, 50, b. IN, his wife, Louisa J, 46, b. IL who appear to be his parents.

1880 census Harlan township, Fayette County, Iowa
Burch, Nicholas, lawyer, IN SC KY
Louisa J, wife, 42, IL VA KY
(and children)

1870 census, Timber Creek, Marshall County, Iowa
Burch, Nicholas, 35, farmer, IN
Louisa J, 32, IL
George L, 12, IA
