EPWORTH, Iowa -- Francis Kennedy, 95, of Epworth, Iowa, died peacefully at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Placid. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Francis was born on Nov. 16, 1916, in Epworth, son of Martin and Elizabeth (Urbain) Kennedy. He received his education in the St. John's School in Placid.

He married Anastasia Viola Konrardy on April 3, 1940, at St. John's Church in Placid; she preceded him in death on March 12, 1998.

Francis farmed in the Placid area until his retirement. After his retirement, he loved to come down and help farm on his home place with his grandson. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. They were everything to him.

He was a member of St. John's Parish in Placid.

Surviving are two daughters, Patty Bonert, of Farley, and Suzanne Kennedy, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren "children," Pamela (Larry) Wilgenbusch, Matthew (Ann) Bonert, Luke (Diana) Bonert, Stacie (Tim) Burds, Amy (Randy) Cook, Joseph (Abby) Bonert and Jacob (Megan) Bonert; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene (John) Theobald, of Dubuque; and a brother-in-law, John Deckert, of Dubuque.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Carl Bonert, on Jan. 16, 1989; three brothers, Clarence, Quirin and Martin Kennedy; and three sisters, Mary Kennedy, Elizabeth Kraus and Helen Deckert.
