FARLEY, Iowa - Mrs. Ambrose (Catherine O.) Neumann, 72, 102 Sixth St., S.E., Farley, formerly of Placid and Cascade, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid, rural Epworth, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a St. John's Parish rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1926, in Bernard, daughter of Francis and Ida (Miller) Manemann. She married Ambrose Neumann on Aug. 28, 1946, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque.

She received her education in the rural Sylvia Switch country schools and St. Anthony's. She graduated from the former Washington school, Dubuque. She was a member of St. John's Parish, Placid, rural Epworth, and its altar and rosary society and the Cascade Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Our Blessed Mother Court, 1926.

Surviving are a husband, Ambrose Neumann, of Farley; three daughters, Darlene (Mike) Kearney, of Dubuque, Loretta "Mickey" (Dave) Wiskus, of New Vienna, and Shirley (Jeff) Turnis, of Cascade; two sons, LaVerne (Connie) Neumann, of Spring Green, Wis., and Ronnie (Vicky) Neumann, of Farley; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Bernard Manemann; and a sister, Lucille Hess.
