DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Elizabeth A. Neumann, 105, of 304 Sixth Ave. SE, Dyersville, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Mark McGovern officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.

Elizabeth was born on Nov. 17, 1896, in Bankston, daughter of Frank and Margaret (Wolf) Schmitt.

She received her education in the former St. Clement's School in Bankston.

On Feb. 2, 1921, she was united in marriage to Matthew Neumann at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley.

Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Donald) Thier, of Dyersville; a son, Lawrence (Dorothy) Neumann, of Durango; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Matthew Neumann on Nov. 14, 1955; three brothers, George Schmitt, Nick Schmitt and Mike Schmitt; and two sisters, Mary Ann Hoefer, and Catherine Hess.

A Elizabeth A. Neumann memorial fund has been established.
