EPWORTH, Iowa - Jeffrey J. Thier, 42, of 309 Main St., Epworth, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Thier worked as a welder at Vessel Systems in Dubuque.

He was born on May 10, 1960, in Dubuque, son of Joe and Dolores (Rollinger) Thier. He married Sheri Smith on May 16, 1992, at St. Francis Xavier, Dyersville.

He received his education in St. Francis School, and was a 1978 graduate of Beckman High School, Dyersville.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth, Machinist Union Local 1238 of Dubuque, and a lifetime member of ABATE of Dubuque.

Jeff enjoyed Harley Davidsons, barbecuing and spending time with family and friends. He cherished the time spent with Jaimie, Cory and Sheri. He was special to everyone that knew him and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Sheri Thier, of Epworth; a daughter, Jaimie, and a son Cory, both at home; his parents, Joe and Dolores Thier, of Farley; two brothers, Vic (Jean) Thier, of Bernard, and Jerry Thier, of Epworth; a sister, Laura (Greg) Russell, of Greenfield, Ind.; his father and mother-in-law, Lynn and Harriet Smith, of Earlville; and a sister-in-law, Sue (Dale) Digmann, of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A Jeffrey J. Thier Memorial Fund has been established.
