EPWORTH, Iowa - Ardella S. Connolly, 81, of Epworth, died at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle and the Rev. Joseph McDermott, SVD officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was employed as a housekeeper at Divine Word Seminary, Epworth.

She was born on March 26, 1924, in Bankston, daughter of George V. and Mary (Winters) Wolf. She received her education in the former St. Clement's School, Bankston.

She married Raymond J. Ernzen on June 23, 1943, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston; he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1975. She later married Francis Connolly on Jan. 13, 1979, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth.

Surviving are her husband, Francis Connolly, of Epworth; four sons, Melvin (Barb) Ernzen, of Epworth, Loras (Debbie) Ernzen, of Dubuque, Gary (Kerry) Ernzen, of Bellevue, and Kenneth Ernzen, of Moreno Valley, Calif.; four daughters, Dianne (Daryl) Kamp, of Epworth, Theresa (Pat) Daly, of Farley, Shirley (Terry) Burds, of Peosta, and Karen (Ernie) Kluesner, of Marion; seven stepchildren, Tim Connolly, Dan "Curly" (Laura) Connolly, Larry "Rocky" (Connie) Connolly, Laura (Todd) Kluesner and Brenda (Marty) Oberfoell, all of Epworth, and Deb (Jack) Demuth and Kim (Don) Avenarius, both of Dubuque; 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeannette (Merlin) Brimeyer and Marlene (Richard) Dupont, both of Sherrill; and a brother, George "Nicky" (Doris) Wolf, of Dyersville.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, John Ernzen; and a great-grandson, Thaddeus Ernzen.

An Ardella S. Connolly Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Ardella would like to thank the entire staff at Oakcrest Manor in Dyersville, and Hospice of Dubuque for all the care and kindness given to Ardella.
