Henry C. Arnold Sr., 90, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 934 W. Fifth St., died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 1995, at Stonehill.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Arnold was a pipefitter at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for 21 years until his retirement.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1905, in Surgoinsville, Tenn., son of Walter and Rosetta (Hensley) Arnold. He married Cecil M. Sheffield on April 7, 1934, in Minneapolis.

He served with the Army from 1929-35 and was a member of the Operation Engineers Local 758. He and his wife were avid ballroom dancers, and he enjoyed growing flowers.

Surviving are his wife, Cecil M. Arnold, of Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. David (Juanita) Leask, of Seattle, Wash., and Zella Arnold, of Gates City, Va.; two sons, Henry C. (Vivian) Arnold Jr., of Falls Creek, Tenn., and Bruce J. Arnold, of Upland, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hayes (Velva) Smith, of Damascus, Va., Rosa Brown, of Gates City, and Bertha Ellis, of Flint, Mich.; and two brothers, James D. (Lisa) Arnold, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Walter F. (Virginia) Arnold, of Highland, Mich.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Arnold, in 1982; one grandchild and one great-grandchild; four brothers; and one sister.

Memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque County.
