Bernice M. (Lightfoot) Armbruster 1929-2002

Bernice M. Armbruster, 72, who resided with her son Clarence at 636 University Ave., died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Dubuque, daughter of William and Irene (Block) Lightfoot.

Bernice was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque. She was a registered nurse and was employed at St. Dominic Villa for many years until her retirement. Bernice was a former member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 850. She enjoyed cooking and baking, making crafts and especially playing bingo.

Bernice was very close to her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are six daughters, Ruth A. Armbruster, of Stockton, Calif., Mary L. Armbruster, of Kieler, Wis., Gail L. (James) Kass, of Dubuque, Joan E. (James) Wehrspann, of Dubuque, Betty K. (William "Junior") Clark III, of Dubuque, and Corrine K. Armbruster, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; three sons, Myron J. (Pat) Armbruster, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Clarence L. Armbruster and Dennis A. Armbruster, both of Dubuque; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Dress, of Dubuque; two brothers, Floyd (Mary) Lightfoot, of Kersey, Colo., and Andy (Shirley) Lightfoot, of Aurora, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, June Armbruster; two sisters, Viola "Toots" Lightfoot and Jennie Beversdorf; and two brothers, Arnold Lightfoot and William Lightfoot.

Memorials may be given to Tri-State Dialysis, 1515 Delhi St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Whalen, Tri-State Dialysis, and the nurses and staff of The Finley Hospital and the VNA for their care and concern for Bernice.
