Henry Thomson

Henry Thomson, 78, of La Harpe, Ill., rural died Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Carthage (Ill.) Memorial hospital.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomson, he was born June 23, 1901, in Des Moines county. He married Fern McCannon in 1920, she died earlier. On April 20, 1940, he married Loyce Gracey at Kahoka, Mo.

A retired Rock Island Railroad section foreman, he was a member of the United Methodist church.

Surviving: The wife; seven sons, Henry, Jr., Ottumwa, James, Des Moines, Dean, La Harpe, Michael, Burlington, and Donald, Thomas, and Mark, all of Sperry; four daughters, Mildred Maddox, West Burlington, Mildred (Marion) Krieger, Burlington, Henrietta Johnson, Burnside, Ill., and Jeanne Garnsey, Morning Sun; two brothers, Hans, Mediapolis, and Laurence, Burlington; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sheagren funeral home, Rev. Laurence L. Garrett; Walker cemetery.
