James Wirt Sr.

James Wirt Sr. 89, Rt. 2 Burlington, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1991 at his home.

Born Nov. 27, 1901, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Henry and Caroline Benhart Wirt. He married Vera Hillyard Jan. 14, 1927 in Burlington.

He was a farmer, a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau and was a former director of Farmers Union Mercantile.

Survivors include his wife; one son, James Wirt Jr., Burlington; two daughters, Donna Schrader, Burlington, and Betty Foley, Mediapolis; one sister, Pearl Campbell, Burlington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral for Mr. Wirt was at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel with Rev. Lexie Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial was in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Kingston United Methodist Church.
