Raymond Schafer

Raymond N. Schafer, 78, of 110 N. Garfield Ave., died 11:21 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 1987, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1909, in New London, he was the son of Edward Jacob and Hulda Olive Johnson Schafer. He married Eva Wagler Nov. 5, 1932, at Rock Island, Ill.

He was a retired production worker at J. I. Case and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the United Commercial Travelers.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Monte Schafer, Middletown, and Dennis Schafer, Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Irene Frerichs, Burlington; one half sister, Mrs. Alice Youngberg, Red Oak; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel.

The service for Mr. Schafer will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with Rev. Andrew Pate officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church.
