Had Lived In the Community All His Life
Lauman F. Williams passed away at his home southeast of Mediapolis Friday morning, December 27, 1929.
He was the son of Isaac and Catherine Williams, and was born on the present homestead March 31, 1865. So at the time of his death which occurred after an illness of four weeks, he had reached the age of 64 years, 8 months and 27 days.
On October 5th, 1901, he was united in marriage to Clara A. Tackenberg, who preceded him in death January 8, 1910. Also an infant son passed away January 8, 1910.
He was a kind and loving father, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, and to help smooth out troubles in his calm, peace-loving way. He will be sadly missed in both home and community.
He leaves to mourn his death, one son and two daughters; Calvin and Miss Nellie at home, and Mrs. Alice Eibes, of near Mediapolis; two grandchildren, Francis William and Wesley LeRoy, one sister, Mrs. E. R. McMeen, of Lincoln, Nebraska.
The funeral service was held at the M. E. church in Mediapolis on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. S. Apfel. Interment in the Kossuth cemetery.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God, in His wisdom, has recalled,
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in heaven.
