Winton Metzger

Winton P. Metzger, 84, of Morning Sun, died Wednesday, June 1, 1994, at his home.

Born Aug. 8, 1909, at Winfield, he was the son of Lawrence and Birdie Williams Metzger. He married Maxine Poggemiller on Dec. 23, 1936, at Morning Sun.

Mr. Metzger was a farmer before he retired.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Metzger and Donald Metzger, both of Morning Sun; one daughter, Barbara Albaugh of West Burlington; one sister, Josephine Thom of New Albany, Ind.; one stepbrother, Jay Spillers of Winfield; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, step-mother and a step brother.

The body has been cremated, The graveside committal service for Mr. Metzger will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Shinar Cemetery at Pleasant Grove, with the Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating.

A memorial has been established.
