Joseph Wagler

Joseph Wagler, 81, of 2017 Division, was pronounced dead on arrival at Burlington hospital about 9 a.m. Tuesday,(August 28th) where he was taken from his home by police ambulance. He collapsed in his back yard while cutting weeds.

He was a native of Coffey county, Kansas, born Sept. 17, 1880. On Dec. 19, 1906, he married Florence Myrtle Carithers at Muscatine. he was a former Iowa Ordnance Plant employee and a retired farmer, and he was a member of the First Christian church.

Survivors include his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Ferris (Irene) Winegarden of Davenport; Mrs. Eva Schafer, 110 N. Garfield; Mrs. Gertrude Fletcher, 1414 S. 15th; Mrs. Ozetta Loose, 2205 Burlington Ave.; Mrs. Leona Sissel, Muscatine; two sons, Ira Wagler, of 1200 Osborn; Marvin of 534 Ramsey, West Burlington; three brothers, William Wagler of Chicago; Sam Wagler of Rock Island; Dan Wagler of Leavenworth, Kans.; 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers are dead.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Elliott Lunning Chapel with the Rev. L. Z. Patton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
