LeRoy Siefken

LeRoy Clarence "Herman" Siefken, 71, of rural Burlington, died at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1926, in Burlington, he was the son of Chester R. and Helen Vorwerk Siefken. On Feb. 7, 1948, he married Marjorie Lange in West Burlington.

Mr. Siefken was a graduate of Sperry High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked at Burlington Northern Railroad for 12 years and at Murray Trane Co. for 37 years as an X-ray tech and foreman of quality control.

He was a member of Boilermakers Union and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Siefken at home and Peggy Wirt of Burlington; one son, Gary Siefken of Burlington; four grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Walljasper of Yarmouth; and three brothers, Ralph Siefken, Verdon Siefken and Wilford Siefken, all of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be after noon today at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
