Audrey D. Carithers, 78, of 4901 Broadway, Dr. SE, died Sunday in her home (12-30-1990) following a brief illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel East, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Edith Carithers of Warrentown, Va.; a niece and two nephews.

Born Nov. 17, 1912, in Cedar Rapids to Lawrence and Carolyn Deane Carithers, she was employed by F. W. Woolworth Co. and Sanford's for many years until retiring in 1977. She also owned Audrey Deane Creations, which specialized in Christmas scenes. A member of Salem United Methodist Church, she was a board member of Mid-Iowa Driving Association and a member of The Carriage Association of America, Davenport Dalmation Club and Eastern Iowa Horsemen Association.

A memorial fund has been established. The Rev. Gale Hawhee of Salem United Methodist Church will officiate.
