Alvin C. Nicholas, 62, of 807 High, died Friday at Burlington hospital, where he was a patient since Thursday afternoon.

He was being treated for what police described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head.

He was born July 7, 1904, in Fairbury, Ill., son of Michael and Mary Wagler Nicholas, He was born July 7, 1904, in Fairbury, Ill., son of Michael and Mary Wagler Nicholas. He was an employee of Campbell Chain Co.

Surviving: two sons, Richard, Livermore, Calif., and Harley, Colton, Calif.; three brothers, Earl, Chicago, William, Tucson, Ariz., and George Westminster, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Swanson, Galesburg, Ill.; Mrs. Edna Pohl, Normal, Ill., Mrs. Leona Garner, Chicago; four grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Elliott-Lunning chapel; Memorial Park cemetery.
