Roma Duncan

Roma Veronica Duncan, 77, of Burlington died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at her home.

Born June 1, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Perry and Esther Lucas Hummer. She married Fred Duncan. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Duncan worked at Sylvania and The Typewriter Shop, and volunteered for Hope Haven after retiring. She graduated from Burlington High School.

She was a member of St. John's Church of Flint River Township, Hawkeye Natives and Golden Oldies. She enjoyed plays, theatrical productions and music, and playing bingo at Steamboat Senior Center.

Survivors include one son, Doug Duncan of Olathe, Kan.; two sisters, Darlene Wagler and Geraldine Kranzler, both of Burlington; two brothers, Bernard Hummer of Burlington and Wayne Hummer of Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Duncan will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Buck officiating. Burial will be in Stronghurst, Ill., Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
