Margaret Mary Cahill, 99, of West Burlington died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born Sept. 28, 1916, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Michael W. and Rose C. Roesch Daly. On Nov. 17, 1938, she married William E. Cahill. He died Jan. 28, 1975.
Mrs. Cahill was a bookkeeper and stenographer at J. I. Case, retiring Aug. 30, 1980.
She attended St. Paul High School and graduated from Burlington High School.
She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, SS. Mary and Patrick Altar & Rosary Society, RSVP and Birthright.
She enjoyed reading, reciting the rosary, crocheting, traveling, the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and desserts, especially Frostys from Wendy’s.
Survivors include two sons, William Cahill and Daniel Cahill, both of Burlington; one daughter, Mary Cahill of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Elmore of Burlington; two brothers, John Daly and Thomas Daly, both of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Prugh’s Chapel, 317 N. 4th St.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Cahill will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. Father David G. Steinle as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Notre Dame Foundation and Birthright.
