MRS. MARY RHODES SUMMONED TUESDAY
FUNERAL SATURDAYFuneral services will be held Saturday, March 21 at 2 o'clock at Buchner's chapel for Mrs. M. W. Rhodes, who passed away March 17. Rev. H. H. Dill, pastor of the Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Ellen Rhodes, age 64, died at 7:45 in her home in the Y. M. C. A. building. She had been in failing health for about two years and for some time had been confined to her home. A sister, Mrs. Lenora Ralston, a nephew, Ernest Ralston, both of Cedar Rapids, and a niece, Mrs. Millie Moore of Maquoketa were with her when she died.
She was born Mary Ellen Webster, on June 10, 1872, in Jackson County, and was the daughter of Orville and Ruby Webster. She lived her entire life in this county. She was married to M. W. Rhodes, June 21, 1883. He passed away October 8, 1921. For some years they lived at Pinhook near Maquoketa, later moving to Maquoketa, where they resided until Mr. Rhodes death. Since that time she has lived in Maquoketa.
She is survived by one son, Lester of Houston, Texas, another son, Lonnie, died in 1929. She also leaves a granddaughter, Pauline Rhodes of Green Bay, Wisconsin, two sisters, Mrs. Lenora Ralston of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. J. A. James of Burlington, two brothers, John Webster of Canada and William Seagle of Monticello, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Bowman of Cedar Rapids and a number of nieces and nephews.
In 1925 she was baptized in St. Paul's Methodist Curch in Cedar Rapids. For many years she has been a member of the local Woman's Relief Corps.
