Mrs. Mildred Rice

MORNING SUN - Mrs. Mildred Doris Rice, 55, died unexpectedly at her home in Morning Sun at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, apparently of a heart attack.

She was born in Burlington, Jan 17, 1923, the daughter of Paul Willard and Ruth Blanche Coon Loper. She married Harold Melvin Rice in Burlington, Dec. 6, 1946.

She was a nurse's aide at Mediapolis Care Center and member of Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church.

Surviving: Husband; six sons, Robert, Cheyenne, Wyo., John and Darryl, both of Burlington, Daniel, Oxford, Wis., David, Mediapolis and Dennis, Morning Sun; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Mayes and Mrs Sandra Powell, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Rose Smith, Moline, Ill.; three step-sisters, Esther Van Winkle, Burlington, and Mildred Dodge and Dorothy Furney, both of Michigan; brother, John Loper, Irving, Texas; 12 grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m., Thursday, Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church, Rev. Duncan Lowe. THe body is at Fry Chapel, Mediapolis.
