DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Viola E. Mormann, 78, of Dyersville, died after a sudden illness Monday, April 28, 1997, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 8 p.m.

Mrs. Mormann was born on Dec. 28, 1918, daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Goerdt) Kern. She married Henry Mormann on Oct. 10, 1939, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville.

Viola was a loving mother and a homemaker. She was employed with the Beckman High School hot lunch program for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. John) Becker, of Dyersville, and Kathy Baum and Jean May, both of Dubuque; three sons, Wayne (Janet) Mormann and Dale (Hania) Mormann, both of Dyersville, and Ronald (Jacque) Mormann, of Clear Lake; a son-in-law, James Reynolds, of Dubuque; and 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1966; a daughter, JoAnn Reynolds, in 1992; and a brother, Edward Kern.
