Jennie was born November 30, 1915, on a farm near Colesburg, Iowa, to Charles David and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Adeline Craig Radabah. She was raised on that farm. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated at the age of 16 from Colesburg High School. She took Normal Training, earning a certificate to teach country school. Her mother became ill with cancer and she spent the next two years with her family taking care of her mother until her death in 1934. At 18, she began teaching country school, grades one through eight.

On December 28, 1937, she married the love of her life, Wesley Kauffman (Happy) Haines in Davenport, Iowa. To this union three daughters; Rita, Carole, and Linda were born. Jennie and Wes made a loving home wherever they went. They started housekeeping on a farm in Northeast Iowa, later moving to Rock Island, Illinois, Davenport, Waterloo, Graham, Carroll, Oelwein, Shenandoah, Atlantic, and Iowa Falls, Iowa, as Wes pursued his entertainment and radio career.

In addition to being a homemaker after her children were in school, she was a seamstress for an alterations shop and for two years, worked for Earl May Seed Company Main office in Shenandoah, Iowa. Moving to Atlantic, she worked for Spurgeon's Clothing for nine years. Moving to Iowa Falls, she worked for J. C. Penney for 21 years before retiring in 1986. She then worked at the polls during election times. In December, 2007 she moved to Ankeny to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In April 2010 with Alzheimer's advancing, she moved to Altoona Nursing and Rehab.

An excellent seamstress, she made clothes and did alterations for her daughters, herself, and others. She made bridesmaid dresses for her daughters' weddings. She made lovely quilts, beautiful embroidery and handwork. She had a large garden and canned vegetables to last the winter. She was ready to make picnic lunches for a family outing. She bowled in a Women's League for many years and was in several bowling tournaments. She enjoyed collecting music boxes, teddy bears and dolls. She was always lending a helping hand to others.

Jennie loved to travel. She and Wes traveled through many states and Canada. After Wes' death, she traveled with friends/relatives by car, bus, air, and special tours. She visited every state in the United States at least once. She also visited Nova Scotia, Mexico, and the Bahamas. She enjoyed playing many card games as well as board games, puzzles, and reading. Most of all, Jennie loved and cherished all her moments with her family and friends. She was an active member of the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ, Alden, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents in 1934 and 1963; her husband, Wesley (Happy) Haines in 1971, her daughter Linda Haines Knop Walters in 2010; her sister Eleanor Radabah Bolsinger in 2002; her brother Robert Radabaugh in 1996; her sister Inez Radabah Barnhart in 2009; her nephews Delbert Bolsinger in 1977, Donald Bolsinger in 2009; and a grandson Shaun Nelson in 2012.
