Greeley, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Ray, 63, were held here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church. The Rev. John Dalton of Iowa City and the Rev. Howard Robison of Greeley officiating.

Burial was in Grant View Cemetery. The ashes of her brother, Lee Sargent, who died two years ago in California, were placed in the grave at the same time.

Mrs. Ray died Sunday at Iowa City following a four-year illness. She was the former Jessie Sargent and was born Feb. 17, 1877, near Greeley, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Sargent. When seven years old, she moved with their parents to Arnold, Neb., returning to this community when 17 years old. She was married to John Armstrong in 1898 and four daughters and two sons were born to this union. In 1920, she was married to John Ray, since which time the home had been made in Iowa City. She was a charter member of the local Eastern Star lodge.

Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Clute of Iowa City, Mrs. Burritt of Waterloo, Mrs. Olive Nichols of Webster City, and Mrs. Lucile Chase of Greeley; two sons, Cecil Armstrong of Iowa City and Joy Armstrong of Greeley; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
