Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. September 29, 2012 at Cornerstone Community Church in Manchester, Iowa, for Jean Ann Black, 69, of Manchester, Iowa, who died at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. September 28, 2012 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory in Manchester. Friends were able to call one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment was held September 29, 2012 at Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, Iowa.
Jean Ann Black was born on March 12, 1943, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Bernard and Alice (Libby) Bottomley. Jean was raised by her father and step-mother, Jane; and educated in the Dysart area. She was a 1961 Dysart High School graduate.
Jean married Allen B. Trask in 1963 and they later divorced.
On March 8, 1991, Jean was united in marriage to Loren Black. Together they lived in the Lake Delhi area. Jean was employed outside of the home and retired in 2001 to help care for her Mom.
Jean’s hobbies included gardening, boating, light houses, traveling, and the outdoors. She loved her family, her church, friends, and her pets.
Survivors include her husband, Loren Black of Manchester; her 4 children, Juan (Teri) Trask of Roanoke, Alabama, Dawn (Kelly) Trask of Des Moines, Troy (Diana) Trask of Wellsburg, and Kelly (Jim) Laurie of Norwalk; three step-children, Carol (Mike) Cox, Julie (Curt) Jensen, and Michelle (Kent) Meyer all of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 siblings, David (Tan) Bottomley of Cedar Rapids, and Patsy (Merle) Steva of Waterloo.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Jane Bottomley; and a step-son, Doug Black.
