Bobby D. Hankins

LITTLEPORT: Bobby D. Hankins, 65, Quincy, Mich., died of a sudden illness at Bronson Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Mich., Jan. 5, 1994.

He was born Aug. 1, 1929 at Greeley, Iowa, to James and Myrtle A. (Smith) Hankins. He grew up here and went to school. He was united in marriage to Maxine Hyde who died Feb. 24, 1974. Bobby was associated with KOEL Radio Station at Oelwein before moving to Coldwater, Mich., where he operated the Bobby Hankins Music City and also worked at Radio Station WNWN where he played hymn tunes, country style, on Sundays. He also had a farm where he raised animals.

Funeral services were held at Batavia Baptist Church, U.C.T., where he was a member with burial at Batavia Cemetery.

Survivors include his second wife, Julia Hankins, Quincy, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Phil (Pennie) Copp, Coldwater, Mich., and Dixie Hankins, Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Amanda Albright, Michael and Brian Copp; one great granddaughter, Sydney Copp; one brother, Cecil Hankins, Littleport, Iowa; nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Hankins; his parents and a sister, Bernice Tibbott.

I am not sure this is a Postville, Iowa newspaper of the time clipping, but it was in Dorothy Schave's obituary collection.
