Joshua J. Fuller, 88, of Manchester, died with family and friends nearby on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, at First Presbyterian Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Manaugh officiating. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Joshua Jason Fuller was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Central City, Iowa, the son of Arby R. and Philena Z. (Baily) Fuller. Joshua graduated from Central City High School in 1939 and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Higgins on May 17, 1942. Josh served in the United States Army during World War II, from September 1942 until February 1946. During this time, Josh continued college and spent one year overseas. Following the war they moved to Congerville, Ill., where he worked for Schrock Brothers. Upon moving back to Iowa he worked as sales manager for Henderson Manufacturing in Manchester for 13 years. Josh then worked with Equitable Life Insurance from 1967 until retiring in 1987.

Josh was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Manchester, past president of the local rotary, Good Neighbor Home Board and American Cancer Society; and was on the board of Youth for Christ for many years. He dedicated a lot of himself to his Christian faith and to helping others. During retirement he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling with his wife Mary and woodworking.

Josh is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary of Manchester; son, Jack (Connie) Fuller of Morgantown, W.Va.; daughters, Marilyn (Jim) Vermazen of Manchester and Sherilyn (Bill) Hoekstra of Mason City; grandchildren, Christine Salesky, Jonathan Fuller, Kathy Vermazen Radez, Carrie Vermazen, Angie Farrell, Elaena Hoekstra and Ben Hoekstra; and great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Nicholas Salesky and Cayce Farrell.

Josh was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters and eight brothers.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or the Good Neighbor Home.
