Delphine Huber - Dec. 25, 1938 - Mar. 19, 2010

Delphine Mary (Harks) Huber, 71, of Delhi, Iowa, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following heart complications.

Delphine was born December 25, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Edmund and Rose (Steffen) Harks. She graduated from St. John’s High School in Independence in 1956 and from Mercy Hospital as a registered nurse in 1959. On August 29, 1959, she was united in marriage to Patrick Huber of Delhi at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence.

Delphine enjoyed quilting, reading, card-making, mushroom hunting, photography and growing a variety of plants, taking joy from any creative activity. She took pride in her work as a registered nurse and enjoyed time spent with her family.

Delphine is survived by her husband, Patrick Huber of Delhi; six children, Patsy (Pat) Patterson of Bradenton, Florida, Jane Huber of Brookfield, Illinois, Joe (Jane) Huber of Delhi, Cleta (Mike) Ehrhart of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Linda (Abid) Sheikh of Cary, North Carolina, and Rev. Henry Huber of Forest City; nine grandchildren, Hannah and Kate Huber, Alex and Claire Patterson, Nick Ehrhart and Iman, Aleena, Nadeem and Anya Sheikh; siblings, Calvin (Karen) Harks of Brandon and Edna Wilson of Missouri as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Delphine was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Rose Harks; a sister, Marion Hawker; and a grandson, Bennett Ehrhart.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville celebrated by her son, Rev. Henry Huber, and concelebrated by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. Family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earlville, Iowa.
