Gaylord Boies, 63, died Wednesday, June 22, at his home in Manchester.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bohnenkamp-Vernon funeral home with the Rev. Merlin Davies officiating. Burial was a Fairview cemetery, Winthrop. A military service was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
He was born April 1, 1920 at Rowley, the son of Horace Glen and Deta (Gaylord) Boies. He was married to Betty Bark Jan 10, 1945 in Independence.
Mr. Boies was a retired farmer and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, having served in World War II.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Duane of Oelwein, Keith of State Center and Brian of Manchester; six daughters, Mrs. Duane (Marjorie) Lamphier of Oelwein, Mrs. Roger (Carol) Lynn of Winthrop, Mrs. Vernon (Shirley) Feldmann of Dundee, Mrs. Daniel (Faith) Steffen of Ryan, Mrs. Roger (Connie) Erickson of Manchester and Barbara Boies of Des Moines; 20 grandchildren; three brothers, Horas of Richland Center Wis., Donald of Cedar Rapids and Richard of Oelwein, and two sisters, Mrs. Graydon (Bernita) Reed of Winthrop and Mrs. Donald (June) Benz of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Denny and Jerry; his parents; one sister, and one granddaughter.
