Mrs. Fern (Ellen) Weyant, 88, of Edgewood died Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Delaware County Memorial Care Center, Manchester, where she had resided the past three months, after a lengthy illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec 26, at Appleton-Vernon funeral home, Edgewood, with the Rev. Mark Heath officiating. Burial was at Taylorsville cemetery, Arlington.
Mrs. Weyant was born Aug. 31, 1893 at Wadena, the daughter of Jesse and Margaret (Boylen) Poor. She received her education at the Wadena high school and Oelwein Business college. She was married to Fern Weyant in 1941.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Aulden (Vera) Wilson of Wadena, Mrs. LaVern (Lucille) McClavey of Arlington and Mrs, Mary Ellen Zander of Tripoli; two sons, Jesse Hicks of Evansdale and Joe Hicks of Oelwein; one brother, Ray Poor of Council Bluffs; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lucian Hicks, and one brother, Frank Poor.
