Isaac (Ike) Randolph Foland was born April 3, 1860, Decatur Co., Iowa near Short Creek where his parents spent their first winter in Iowa. He was married August 7, 1881, to Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Boles (b. January 11, 1863, west of Van Wert), daughter of William and Sarah (Gilmore) Boles. They lived with his parents awhile before moving to the weaning house where they lived until 1890 when they bought and moved to an 80 acre farm in the home community. He acquired land until he owned 245 acres. In 1923 they rented their farm (sold it in 1942), bought and moved to a home in Grand River. Ike will be remember for his gently disposition; and Betty, for her sincere Christian life.

Relatives who live in or around Grand River (1981) are the following: Granddaughter, Lois Louise (Foland, Steen) McClure; grandsons, Roy Isaac Foland and Eugene Leonard Foland; great-grandsons, Harold and Kendall Foland and families; grandson Carl Wesley Warrick; great-grandson Ronald Edwin Stark and family.
