Dr. D. S. Burbank was the last doctor in LeRoy. Others have been Dr. A. Brown and Dr. Wilkins. Dr. Burbank once had his office over the hardware store and in a small building that was located east of the hardware and can be seen in the group building picture on the Centennial plate. [I couldn't find a picture of LeRoy's Centennial plate.] This building was moved to the W. H. Baker (father of Mae Joy) farm southeast of LeRoy and is still in use.

Dr. Burbank's last office and a small hospital was in the house formerly owned by Dan Thurlow and now is occupied by Fairie Hayward.

In talking to Argie Swanson one time, she told me about the work she did for Dr. Burbank. She talked about doing the cooking for the patients and I remember her telling how Dr. Burbank told her how to cook cabbage as it was a good source for vitamin C.

Transcriber's Note: As per Dr. Burbank's WWI Draft Registration card, he was born on August 1, 1886, Knox County, Nebraska, the son of Frank E. & Rosa M. (Patterson) Burbank. He was a physician and a surgeon. Dr. Burbank and Myra Georgia Douglas were married March 31, 1909, Oxford, Johnson County, Iowa. Dr. Burbank died 1967. Myra, born 1886, died 1975. They were interred in Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
