Joyce Johnson, age 65, of Arthur, Iowa, died Tuesday, 23 February 1999 at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake. Born 12 February 1934 in Ida Grove, Iowa, Alice Joyce Johnson was the daughter of William and Alice (Nepper) Boger. She graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1952. On 29 June 1952 Joyce married Robert L. Johnson and began a lifelong career in farming and community service. Her achievements include serving on the original Board of Directors of Horn Memorial Hospital, membership in the Iowa & American Angus Association Auxiliary, and volunteering in numerous capacities for many activities in the Ida Grove school system and in 4-H and Ida County Extension work. She has been honored with several awards over the years, including Outstanding Young Woman of America, Ida Grove Citizen of the Year, Iowa Master Farm Homemaker, and the 4-H Meritorious Service Award. As a member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church, Joyce served as deaconess, church secretary, Sunday School teacher, WMS officer, and worked for many years with the Awana program.

Her father and one brother, Kenneth, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Robert; two daughters, Bobbie Pruiksma of Ohio, and Debbie Hall and husband Richard of Massena; one son, Andrew Johnson and wife Suzanne of Arthur; three cherished grandchildren, Jane Hall, and Drew and Lydia Johnson; her special Brazilian son, Ary Pacheco Braga; her mother, Alice Boger of Odebolt; three brothers, William Boger and wife Joanne of Storm Lake, James Boger of Denison, and Roger Boger and wife Cheri of Missouri; and four sisters, Shirley McBride and husband William of Wisconsin, Carole Boger and Lois Catero, both of Arizona, and Marjorie Rydberg and husband LuVerne of Storm Lake.
