She had reached the unusual age of 101 years, 1 month and 13 days at the time of her passing.
Since the death of her beloved husband on 15 March 1906, Mrs. Sandberg has been cared for by her two children, W. J. Sandberg and Mrs. E. J. Nordlander and the son in law, Rev. Nordlander.

Mrs. Bengta Sandberg was the daughter of Per and Nilla Bengtson. She was born 21 December 1832 at Soby Socken Grantinge, by State of Skåne, Sweden. She was the second child of her parents. Her parents were relatively well fixed farmers and she received a good education in the public school of that time. She was a gifted child and became an accomplished young lady of her time. At the age of fifteen years she was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Stoby Socken. She was religiously inclined from her youth. She confessed herself to be converted at the age of twenty years and was baptized on June 1860 when she joined the Baptist church at Berghult, Sweden. She has been a faithful reader of the Bible all her life.

The fifth of December 1862 she was united in marriage to Johans J. Sandberg from Deleberga by Matteröd Socken, Skåne at her parental home. Four children were born to this marriage-- two daughters in Sweden. On the sixth of June 1868, she arrived from Sweden direct to this vicinity in company with her husband and two daughters. The first year and a half they lived in a "dugout". They suffered many hardships as early pioneers., but with their integrity and ambition they strove onward and in 1870 they erected their first home in America, a three room frame house. In 1890 the present home was built which has been the home of the family ever since. Amid their successful life journey of Mr. and Mrs. Sandberg they had their storms and stress. Their two eldest daughters died within two weeks of each other. Johanna, October 3, 1877 and Lydia October 11, 1877.

She leaves to deeply mourn her departure, the son, W. J. and the daughter, Mrs. E. J. Nordlander and the son-in-law, Rev. Nordlander, all of Kiron. The son who has spent his entire life with his beloved mother, was taken to the Clarkson hospital in Omaha a week or ten days ago for treatments and was unable to be at his mother's bedside during her passing away.
