Location of Elk River Twp

I am trying to find out where Elk River twp Iowa is. I have a cemetery record for Miller Cemetery for Alexander Baird. I am looking for death records if any. Alexander Baird was an engineer on riverboats. I am not sure if this is the Baird I am looking for, the one who is my great great grandfather. Mine was not a resident of Elk River, to the best of my knowledge. He resided in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He purportedly died away from home, perhaps while working on a riverboat.
