James Johnson marriage about 1878

JOHNSON, SCOTT, WHALLEY

I am trying to find information about a marriage that took place between 1877 and 1880, and the death of the wife sometime before the 1885 census. The groom was James JOHNSON (my gr-gr-grandfather) and he lived in Clinton County, but the marriage may have been either there or nearby in Illinois. The bride's first name was Mary; born in Illinois about 1821. My gr-gr-grandmother (nee Maria Ann WHALLEY) died Feb 19, 1877. In the 1880 census her husband (James Johnson) has another wife, named Mary, living in Calamus, Clinton County, with daughter and son-in-law Mattie and Walter SCOTT. In the 1885 Iowa Census, James is a widower again, living with his daughter Martha Marie Johnson SCOTT, also a widow, and her two children Milo W. SCOTT and Laura Nellie Maria SCOTT, in Calamus, Clinton County. So, I am trying to find information about James Johnson's 2nd wife Mary - her surname, when and where they were married (between 1877 and 1880), and her death information (between 1880 and 1885).
