I have been doing research on Clinton County and found out the most deadly tornado in Iowa history hit Camanche in June 1860. About 10% of the 1200 population was killed. The 1860 census was taken in Camanche in July 1860. I think there is a distinct possiblility that Catherine Foster's husband and Matilda Hower's husband could have been amoung the victims. Do you know if there is a list of tornado victims anywhere?
