CLINTON — Helen L. Roling, 91, of Clinton, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11:30 am Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-4:00 pm at the funeral home. Following the services her body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue, Iowa, at a later date. Helen Louise Heim was born on July 29, 1917 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Keenen) Heim. She married Joseph H. Roling on June 11, 1940 in Bellevue, Iowa; he later died on August 16, 1993. Helen was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School and graduated from Mount St. Clare College with a degree in education. Helen was a teacher at the Jackson County Rural Schools and at Sacred Heart School in Clinton. She was later a health consultant with Nutrition Plus from 1983 until retiring in 1995. She was also a seamstress for many years. Helen was a former 4H Leader in Jackson County and enjoyed spending time with her family. Helen is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth (David) Leidenfrost of Blue Grass, Iowa, Mary (Mike) Rupp of Clinton; five sons: Edward Roling of Kingman, Arizona, Paul (Sandi) Roling of Manchester, Iowa, Roger (Karen) Roling of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, James (Valerie) Roling of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Larry (Alice) Roling of Clinton, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Robert (Shirley) Heim of Holy Cross, Iowa. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three grandchildren. Memorials can be made to the Alverno Nursing Home.
