SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Donna Lea Lister, 2116 N. 38th Street, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday morning, January 29, 2009, at St. Nicholas Hospital.Donna was born May 3, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, to Milton and Hazel (Kroeger) Krabbenhoft. She was a graduate of Miles High School and received a BA Degree in Education from the University of Iowa and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Bradley University.On June 8, 1958, Donna and Herbert H. Lister were united in marriage in Preston, Iowa. They moved to Naperville, Illinois, where Donna was a teacher until 1966 when they relocated to Sheboygan. She became a substitute teacher in the Sheboygan School District.Donna was a faithful member of First United Lutheran Church, a member of Kohler Women’s Club, AAUW, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #0677 in Miles, Iowa, Guardian of Jobs Daughters, and a longtime member of the Shoreline Women’s Club. Donna especially cherished her monthly bridge dates with her wonderful friends, Jan Homiston, Glenda Melzer and Arletta Giese.Donna enjoyed playing the piano, music, gardening, golf, and watching football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers. She will always be remembered for her dedicated love for her family. Everyone knew the love she had for her granddaughters, Rachel and Julia. They loved their “Bucca!” Donna loved having her son-in-law, Brian, and daughter-in-law, Denise, as part of the family. Nothing was more joyous than sharing the 50th wedding anniversary June 8, 2008, with the love of her life, Herb.In addition to her loving husband, Herb, Donna is survived by her children, Laura (Brian) Wiggin and Blaine (Denise) Lister, all of Sheboygan; her granddaughters, Rachel and Julia Wiggin; and other relatives and friends.Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her good friend, Hattie.Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan, WI. Rev. Todd W. Smith, pastor, will be the officiant. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Miles, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.Donna’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mark Bettag, Cory Jepsen-Hobbs and their dedicated staff and the 5th floor nursing staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for their comfort and support.E-mail condolences to support@ballhornchapels.com.Death date: Jan. 29, 2009
